Natural Gas Inventory Report 1-31-08

Record Decline In Natural Gas Inventories



Working gas in storage was 2,262 Bcf as of Friday, January 25, 2008, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net decline of 274 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 336 Bcf less than last year at this time and 85 Bcf above the 5-year average of 2,177 Bcf. In the East Region, stocks were 36 Bcf above the 5-year average following net withdrawals of 145 Bcf. Stocks in the Producing Region were 59 Bcf above the 5-year average of 661 Bcf after a net withdrawal of 89 Bcf. Stocks in the West Region were 11 Bcf below the 5-year average after a net drawdown of 40 Bcf. At 2,262 Bcf, total working gas is within the 5-year historical range.

Natural Gas prices are poised to move higher after recently bouncing off of the 50 day moving average.

Working gas in storage was 2,536 Bcf as of Friday, January 18, 2008, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net decline of 155 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 247 Bcf less than last year at this time and 174 Bcf above the 5-year average of 2,362 Bcf. In the East Region, stocks were 59 Bcf above the 5-year average following net withdrawals of 80 Bcf. Stocks in the Producing Region were 102 Bcf above the 5-year average of 707 Bcf after a net withdrawal of 49 Bcf. Stocks in the West Region were 12 Bcf above the 5-year average after a net drawdown of 26 Bcf. At 2,536 Bcf, total working gas is within the 5-year historical range.

Working gas in storage was 2,691 Bcf as of Friday, January 11, 2008, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net decline of 59 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 258 Bcf less than last year at this time and 168 Bcf above the 5-year average of 2,523 Bcf. In the East Region, stocks were 41 Bcf above the 5-year average following net withdrawals of 29 Bcf. Stocks in the Producing Region were 109 Bcf above the 5-year average of 749 Bcf after a net withdrawal of 6 Bcf. Stocks in the West Region were 18 Bcf above the 5-year average after a net drawdown of 24 Bcf. At 2,691 Bcf, total working gas is within the 5-year historical range.

Working gas in storage was 2,750 Bcf as of Friday, January 4, 2008, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net decline of 171 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 282 Bcf less than last year at this time and 122 Bcf above the 5-year average of 2,628 Bcf. In the East Region, stocks were 7 Bcf above the 5-year average following net withdrawals of 93 Bcf. Stocks in the Producing Region were 89 Bcf above the 5-year average of 775 Bcf after a net withdrawal of 58 Bcf. Stocks in the West Region were 25 Bcf above the 5-year average after a net drawdown of 20 Bcf. At 2,750 Bcf, total working gas is within the 5-year historical range.

Stocks were 160 Bcf less than last year at this time and 222 Bcf above the 5-year average of 2,699 Bcf. In the East Region, stocks were 52 Bcf above the 5-year average following net withdrawals of 53 Bcf. Stocks in the Producing Region were 137 Bcf above the 5-year average of 785 Bcf after a net withdrawal of 16 Bcf. Stocks in the West Region were 33 Bcf above the 5-year average after a net drawdown of 18 Bcf. At 2,921 Bcf, total working gas is within the 5-year historical range.
